United States v. Bredimus

In a paper about U.S. Fifth Court of Appeals Standards of Review, United States v. Bredimus is mentioned in support of the principle of requiring a challenger of Congressional law to show that the law is unconstitutional. If an American citizen travels to Thailand or Hong Kong, for example, and violates American law while a tourist in Thailand or Hong Kong, how much jusrisdiction does U.S. commerce law have over the American citizen for activities in Thailand, Hong Kong, or other countries? The paper doesn't directly address this issue.

Sentencing Guidelines mention Bredimus

In a standard of review section, United States v. Bredimus is referenced. "This case involves the application of the sixteen-level “crime of violence” sentenceenhancement under § 2L1.2 of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines. Appellant Ismael Martinez-Mata’ssentence for illegally reentering the United States in violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1326 included asixteen-level enhancement based on a prior conviction of the Texas crime of retaliation."
